Some pictures from our 2021 season

After a long wait the green finally opened on the 26th April. First out was President Dot who looked like she had never been away!

ABOVE - On Thursday 29th May we were playing our first away match with 2 triples at picturesque Wraysbury. We were privileged to be the first on to their brand new artificial surface. This took a little getting used to but a close game ensued with the home side just pipping it by 2 shots, with a fine performance by top rink Jill Walker, Rita Moore and Wendy Ridley.

BELOW - Graeme’s first Early Practice session took place on the Friday morning with 18 keen bowlers out to regain bowling skills in a mixture of singles and pairs games. This series will consist of 6 Friday mornings – a useful way to improve as we get back into the bowling habit!

After a spell of heavy rain it brightened up and on the 19th May we played Windsor Great Park Men in the evening (above). It was a close game and there was some interesting bowling including a dead end followed immediately by a tied end on one rink. It was our first return to catering afterwards too.

The second leg of the Bishop Duppas Shield followed on the 30th May - the weather conditions being much more favourable -  though maybe we were not used to the heat!  We won on 3 rinks but conceded 28 shots, so the day, and the shield, went to Bishop Duppas.

Another traditional match followed a week later on the 5th June, with the 1st leg of the Sunningdale Cup.
This time with 2 Men's Rinks and 2 Ladies' Triples, by the end the ladies were ahead 64-19 and the men just ahead 45-35...

We met Sunbury Sports in the South Middlesex League on June 30th - a 6-4 win to Staines

It was a jolly warm day on the 17th July when the Staines Ladies played the Men. There was interesting bowling on both sides, but it was a convincing victory for the Men. And we welcomed some of our new bowlers to the match green...
